Seahawks’ first General Manager, John Thompson, dies at 95

John Thompson, the 1st Typical Manager in Seahawks heritage, died Tuesday morning in Las Vegas, the group introduced Wednesday. Thompson was 95.

“We keep in mind and honor John Thompson pursuing his passing this week,” the Seahawks wrote in a statement. “Thompson served as the team’s very first Typical Supervisor from 1975-82. The Seahawks hired Thompson on March 6, 1975, and he served as the G.M. until eventually Oct 1982.

Thompson formerly labored with the Vikings as the team’s publicity director and assistant General Supervisor from 1960-70. He briefly was the assistant to the president of the Nationwide Soccer Conference adhering to the AFL-NFL merger in advance of becoming the first whole-time government director of the NFL’s Management Council, the collective bargaining agent of the league’s golf equipment, in 1971.
